Russell Clothier, a former high school physics teacher opens a sanctuary for senior dogs
Russell Clothier decided to open a sanctuary for senior dogs, which people refuse to adopt because of their old age. In such a place, these dogs will be able to live their remaining time calmly and carefree. They will be looked after; they will be fed and walked around – in a word, everything that is needed for a quiet life at that age.
The sanctuary is called Shep’s place after the beagle that was adopted by Clothier and his wife last year.

However, some dogs remain in the shelter and need constant care. Many volunteers helped to take care for the animals, but since the lockdown, the number of volunteers has decreased. In addition, it is necessary to improve the conditions for the sanctuary.
After a few rainy days, the roof began to leak and the floor of the shelter began to rot.
They want to make a new surface with a gravel foundation below the fake grass that would absorb rain (and dog pee) and save cleanup time. The sanctuary is on track to raise $15,000 for this project, and they have collected almost the half of the sum.
After a small renovation, the shelter will be able to accept more dogs and offer more comfortable conditions for the animals.
Why do people always want to adopt small cute dogs, not thinking that older dogs also need love, attention and care?
