A joyful Pit Bull, Lucy meets her friend from school every day. A boy with autism began to change thanks to her!
Lucy is a sweet and sociable dog. Her positive attitude cheers up anyone who meets her. Lucy loves all members of her family, especially a 5-year-old boy of the family.
“My son has autism. He does not speak even though he is 5 years old. When we adopted Lucy, he didn’t like her and didn’t even pay attention to her. He apparently didn’t want to let anyone into his personal space,” Miranda Peterson, Lucy’s mom, told The Dodo.
Lucy, being a very smart and sensitive animal, nevertheless found an approach to the boy with special needs.
“My husband began to take our son out every day for an evening walk and each time they took Lucy. Our son loves to be in the fresh air and regular walks make him positive. Gradually Lucy became close to my son – they made friends. He began to pay attention to her, sometimes made attempts to play with her and even feed her,” Peterson said.
Now Lucy has become the boy’s four-legged friend. She accompanies the boy to school every day and meets from the schools. Lucy looks forward to the school bus and sometimes even hops on it to see her friend a minute earlier. The boy is happy when he returns from school and see that Lucy is waiting for him. Such a pure friendship!
The agile dog has become a favorite of the bus driver. The daily “good morning” became a tradition for him and Lucy. The boy’s mother feels how positively Lucy influences her son. He became a little more active and even began to take care of Lucy.
Lucy has become a bright part of this family.
