Barker’s Pet Motel and Grooming is a family business in St. Albert, headed by the family of Alex Aldred, who told the details of this story to DoDo. So, in 2016, an Australian Shepherd named Maggie gave up her puppies. And one day, being in her kennel, she heard the crying of some puppies nearby.

The time was getting late, the workers were no longer there. There is a small hole in the front of the kennel for workers to push a bowl of water into the cage. So Maggie pushed the bowl out through the hole and crawled out of the cage herself through it.

She walked along the corridor until she found the kennel in which two little puppies were sitting. She could not get to them and only clung to the kennel, as if saying that they were not alone, she came to their aid.

That evening, the Aldred family was in the restaurant and, after viewing the video surveillance, accidentally noticed that the dog had left the cage. Interrupting dinner, Sandy Aldred hurried to the motel. When he entered the room, he saw Maggie lying near the puppies’ kennel. He opened it, the dog entered and snuggled up to the puppies.

“She gently snuggled up to the puppies and began to lick them, as if trying to calm their crying with a caress. They felt very good together and we decided to leave them in the same kennel for the night. In the morning we found the puppies calmly sleeping on Maggy”, Alex Aldred told DoDo.

Some days later, Maggie and the puppies were adopted. But the motel people always remember this story.
