The friendly and romantic relationship between the American show star Jennifer Lopez and the Latin American salsa singer Marc Anthony turned out to be much longer than their official marriage lasted. They became happy parents of twins, but as a result, they still broke up, claiming that this was their final decision.

Acquaintance

Jennifer and Mark first met in 1998. It happened on September 26 during a concert at Madison Square Garden, where both performed. That same year, Lopez was on Paul Simon’s Broadway show The Capeman, in which Anthony played the title role. Mark supported Jennifer during the recording of her first album. For some time, the relationship remained friendly, and only then love began to emerge in them. At first, they just liked each other’s music, and they highly appreciated creative talents, not even suspecting that they would soon become parents of two children.

First breakup

Between 2000 and 2002, both Jay and Mark started families with completely different people.

Lopez married her choreographer and dancer Chris Judd in 2001, though she filed for divorce in 2002, citing irreconcilable differences. At the same time, she began dating her Gigli co-star Ben Affleck. A year later, they got engaged, but the wedding never took place.

Anthony married former Miss Universe Dayanara Torres in May 2000. The marriage produced two sons, Christian and Ryan, but he was bursting at the seams. The couple divorced, then got back together and resumed their marital obligations. The final break followed in 2004.

Mark rejected the rumors about his betrayal that appeared after the statement and asked people not to look for the hidden reason for the split: “After getting divorced, we are going to be in each other’s life for many, many, many years, and I am glad that our friendship is so strong …”.

In October 2011, Lopez and Anthony again started working on joint projects.

It was not until June 2014 that the official divorce was finalized, and the former spouses received the rights to joint custody of the children. As the reason for the breakup, the former lovers named a difficult period, during which many problematic points of view were revealed.

Subsequently, J. Lo said that the divorce was not easy for her, and she hardly forgave her former partner.
