Volunteers from the British Horse Society found this half-dead abandoned horse near a building in East Dorem.
The horse was covered in mud and barely breathing.
A pony named Heidi was thrown away like garbage. The animal was in a deplorable state, the volunteer had to act immediately. It was impossible to look at this thin, dirty horse. She was so weak that she could not even walk. She was starving!
There was almost no chance of survival. Volunteers called rescuers who took her to the emergency department of a homeless animal shelter. Rescuers no longer hoped to bring Heidi back to life. But a miracle happened!
The pony survived but it took months to get the horse back on her feet, she had serious health problems.
Six months later, Heidi got on her feet and looks completely different. Heidi grew a thick mane and regained her weight. We hope she will forget her unfortunate past and start a new life.
