Betsy spent about 200 days at the Humane Rescue Alliance. The day when she was taken by her new family from the shelter, even the director and employees of the organization excitedly said goodbye to the dog.
“I was trembling with excitement. Some of the staff even started crying when Betsy was leaving the building,” the director of the Humane Rescue Alliance told the Dodo.

Betsy was found in the Anacostia region of Southeast DC and taken to a shelter. Betsy was very sociable and the staff of the shelter was amazed at her unabashed love for people.
“Betsy didn’t get along well with other dogs. She spent a lot of time in the director’s office and dozing on the couch there. Being surrounded by dogs was extremely stressful for her, so the staff tried to keep her around,” Valm said.
And when Betsy was adopted by all the employees and even the director said goodbye to her, it was as if their own child was leaving for another family. The shelter staff applauded and shouted goodbye.
