It seems that the notion of “maternal love” is well understood.

People are well aware that mothers are willing to make big sacrifices for their children.

However, as an individual learns more about the animal world, it becomes increasingly evident that some species of animals are willing to make great sacrifices for their offspring.

A mother lion was photographed in Kenya’s Masai Mara reserve making tremendous self-sacrifice. A baby lion nearly fell off a cliff, and his mother braved the precipice to save him.

It was a risky move, but she managed to save her son. Initially, three adult lions were present.

Unfortunately, two of them backed away as the cliff was too steep even for their long and sturdy claws.

Only a mother with a big heart and a willingness to risk everything could save him. She lifted him with her teeth.
