These nine ducklings that lost their mother were adopted by a Labrador!
This story proves us that dogs are not only good friends but also good parents! This Labrador Fred who guards Mountfitchet Castle in Essex has adopted nine orphaned ducklings. Sounds so weird!
Fred grew up in a family with his owners Jo and Jeremy Goldsmith, who always helped poor animals. He grew up in an atmosphere of kindness, saw kindness, and learned to be kind. We always learn from what we see and what atmosphere we live in.
When Fred saw these little ducklings crowded together and not knowing where to go, he lay down next to them and hugged them. At the sight of defenseless little chicks, his parental instincts worked.
Fred fell in love with ducklings at first sight. He began to take care of them, to bathe with them in the moat. In a word, he took on all the responsibilities of a mother.
The ducklings also became attached to Fred. They follow him everywhere he went, and they even sleep together in the same basket.
We will not be afraid of this word and we will say that they have become a real family. And the difference in species hasn’t affected their relationship in any way.
Fred turned out to be a very attentive parent; he does not leave children unattended for a minute. The ducklings gradually got used to the “strange mother” and now they are not afraid of her at all. They love to play and tumble on him.
This is how amazing nature can be. Oddly enough, a dog that could easily eat ducklings decided to become their mother!
